Water treated with reverse osmosis and ion exchange systems for car washes exhibits special properties - unlike normal municipal water, it doesn't leave scale deposits on cars when it dries. High TDS (including but not limited to calcium, magnesium, sodium, chloride, sulfate, potassium, and more) or hard water can cause spotting and etching to the car’s paint and windows. High TDS or hardness also hinders soap from doing its job cleaning your vehicles. Hard water reacts with soap to form a sticky scum, and also reduces the soap's ability to lather. Hardness in water is caused by mineral salts, mostly calcium and magnesium and is very undesirable for any type of washing.
Our RO-200 series RO systems are designed to produce high quality on demand rinse water on site, and ready for use in your car wash operation. The Reverse Osmosis process allows ordinary tap water to be purified typically by reducing the TDS (mineral spotting) of mains water by 97%- 99%. As rinse water dries it evaporates into the atmosphere - anything that is not water remains deposited on the surface thus creating a spot that impairs the finish on paint, glass, metals etc. Spot-free water treated through a reverse osmosis system is low in anions and cations content. Mineral content is measured as total dissolved solids (TDS), and water containing less than 20 parts per million (PPM) of TDS will typically produce a spot free water. Since Calcium and Magnesium are considered to be large ions, it is easy to reject them by RO process. Having the final rinse water without hardness or minerals, will lead to a spot free water and will make customers happy.
