Pure Aqua, Inc. manufactures a full line of Ultrafiltration Systems. UF is a pressure driven membrane separation process that removes suspended or particulate matter (including colloids & silt) from water. This solution is far more reliable than a conventional multimedia filter, which removes approximately 10 micron or larger matter, where a UF membrane pore size ranges from 0.01 to 0.10 micron. In addition to superior turbidity removal, UF membranes efficiently remove bacteria and most viruses.

Water Challenges: Surface water picks up sediments and particles from the process of run-off. The degree of total suspended solids (TSS) in the water is greatly increased after run-off and requires treatment in order to rid these substances from the water. It is needed to eliminate these unwanted contaminants from the water for mining purposes due to the potential of these substances to harm the equipment and processes which occur in mines. This project saw a mining site in Panama facing the challenge of scaling and a loss of performance in mining equipment due to high concentration of TSS in the water. We sent over a selection of advanced ultrafiltration water treatment systems that are designed to target and eliminate organic, inorganic, suspended solids, and other metals from the water.

Applied Solution: Pure Aqua successfully designed and manufactured four (4) Ultrafiltration (UF) water treatment systems to provide potable water for the construction phase of two remote mines in Panama. The most challenging factor was purifying feed water from local rivers since they were high in organics, suspended solids, and iron. The Ultrafiltration Systems produced 3 m3/h at a maximum 300 PPM feed water TDS. They came complete with a PLC control panel with color touch screen, supply pumps, coagulant dosing, flocculation dosing, clarification, break tank, booster pumps, multimedia filter, activated carbon filter, Ultrafiltration, oil absorbing filters, 0.2 micron filter, UV and post disinfection (chlorine).
