From its initial start-up, the units have been operating accordingly with minimal trouble-shooting. Reverse Osmosis is a popular technology that deals with the elimination of large amounts of salt and other contaminants from water sources that are considered highly non-consumable. A high pressure pump is tasked to defeat the osmotic pressure of a natural process called "Osmosis".

Osmosis transports salt naturally through a partially porous membrane from a region with low saline concentration to a region with high saline concentration. Its main purpose is to accomplish an equal amount of saline concentration on both sides. To stop this natural process, reverse osmosis comes in to direct osmosis in the opposite direction. The process starts by moving seawater through various pre-filters to take out particles and solids from the water. After the pre-filters step, the water continues on into a water softener tank which removes hardness so the membranes within the system won’t be subject to any damage. It then proceeds into the actual machine where it is transported through partially porous membranes. During this stage, the membranes eliminate particles that the pre-filters didn’t catch. The membranes are designed to only permit water to pass through while blocking salts, minerals, and other impurities from carrying on. At the end we are left with purified, potable water emerging on the permeate side while salt, minerals, and other impurities are thrown into a drain from the concentrate side.

Pure Aqua, Inc. seawater RO Machines are designed to operate under high or low TDS conditions. The built-in (VFD) Variable Frequency Drive can be adjusted to increase or lower the operation pressure according to feed water TDS and temperature. The VFD feature coupled with the optional Energy Recovery System greatly improves the system efficiency and lowers electrical consumption. In today’s high energy cost globe, these are important features to have in any seawater desalination SWRO machine. To minimize antiscalant consumption dosing PA0100, the Pure Aqua SWRO machine utilizes low recovery ratio design. This simplifies the chemical storage logistics and reduces the cost of chemicals. This design also utilized low flux rate design (GFD) to ensure long membrane productivity life.

Water Challenges: A lack of rainfall is one of the primary factors for insufficient water supply in Papua New Guinea. Droughts have been a prevalent and growing danger in most of the land area, with noticeable effects on attempts to conserve water. Water savings and other ideas have been utilized to alleviate the stress on the water supply, but have failed in increasing water resources. For this reason, the ocean is being looked at as a source for freshwater production. Since seawater is unusable in virtually any commercial or industrial application, including consumption, there must be a treatment method brought in to remove any and all unwanted contaminants. Seawater reverse osmosis is a water treatment solution that works in converting seawater into fresh, clean water.

    Nice clean design

Nice clean design and I like how they arranged the racks of vessels and piping. The actual SWRO is even better than the 3D drawing that we saw.
