Seawater Reverse Osmosis Machine 7600 GPD - Russia

Product Description

Application: Oil Tankers

The SW-7.6-804 machine was selected from our SWC Series to comply with the customer's application requirements. This project consists of the following products:

Reverse Osmosis is tasked with defeating the osmotic pressure of a natural process called “Osmosis”. Osmosis naturally transports salt through a semipermeable membrane from an area with low saline concentration to an area with high saline concentration. Its goal is to gain an equal amount of saline concentration on both sides. To halt this natural process, reverse osmosis comes in to force osmosis in the opposite direction. It begins by first moving seawater through several pre-filters to remove suspended solids from water. From there, the water proceeds into a water softener tank, removing hardness to prevent the membranes within the system from damaging. The water is then carried into the actual seawater reverse osmosis machine where it is moved through semi-permeable membranes. These membranes remove particles that the pre-filters didn’t catch. The membranes are tasked with only allowing water molecules to flow through while blocking salts, suspended solids, and other impurities from proceeding through. This is when purified, potable water emerges on the permeate side while salt, suspended solids, and other impurities are dumped into a drain from the concentrate side.

Water Challenges: Oil tankers are in need of high quality water for the purposes of cooling equipment and providing fresh, clean drinking water to crew members. Untreated water has the potential to cause corrosion and a reduction in performance in regards to the equipment. The taste, smell and texture of the drinking water is also compromised as a result of contaminants. Seawater contains the most significant amount of pollution and requires a greater degree of treatment in order to be used in these applications. Reverse osmosis is the most preferred purification process utilized for converting seawater into fresh, pure water.

Applied Solution: Seawater reverse osmosis machine was supplied to a major company in Russia. The machine came complete with a microprocessor control panel along with multimedia filtration to assist with particulate reduction, antiscalant/antifoulant injection, and a seawater reverse osmosis system designed to produce 7,600 GPD of product water at a maximum 42,000 PPM feed water TDS. From its initial start-up, the machine has been operating accordingly with minimal trouble-shooting. Seawater reverse osmosis machines mainly deal with removing large amounts of salt and other contaminants from highly inconsumable water sources such as the sea. These machines utilize a popular method called “Reverse Osmosis” to assist in purifying seawater.
